Just 3 fast Qs. People have a tendency to look down on cruise auctions...I've purchased a few pieces that I thought were good buys. Steynovitz mixed media (12x18) (Can you make an educated guess at the value?) Elie Barnes...small original acrylics... Tarkay watercolors Do any of these have any future posiibilities of increased value...how long should they be held? Also, I heard Tarkay has stopped painting, is that true?

I have a limited edition off-set lithograph of Henri Plisson’s “The Red Door” signed and numbered 35/300 (or 700, It’s not very legible), won at a Princess Cruise art auction. I have been searching for comparable pieces to get an estimated value, but all I can find are serigraphs, not lithographs, by this artist. Would you be able to give an estimated value, or information as to LE serigraphs vs. lithographs? Thanks in advance... any information would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to find out the worth of several signed and numbered prints. There are seven different artists, but only a few whose names I can make out. One is called "Jupiter 8"which looks like the circles used to identify the olympics, by what appears to be B Marin. There are two by what appears to be Avons they are "Ford" and "Rides" these two are of aviation. There is one called "Bride" by John Hardy which is a depiction of a bride, but the face is not seen. The last I can make out is of flowers. There is no title. The artist is Freckelton. I received them all as a gift when I worked in a frame shop. I love all of these and want to frame them, but would prefer to know what they are worth before I let anyone touch them to frame them. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. One last print is floral and the artist signature looks as if it could be Shigenu NauKama '82. Thank you in advance for your time and knowledge.

My mother has a copy of a painting of two young adult women (one with long blonde hair and one with long brunette hair). One is seated at a beautiful grand piano and the other is standing nearby. They are wearing long, formal gowns. They are in a beautiful home with a magnificent winding staircase. My mother bought it in the 1950s. I would like to buy a copy of it. The artist's signature appears to be R. Brownell Mc-something. I first guessed McGrell, but in a google search, I thought it might be R. Brownell McGrew, but I cannot find this picture on any of the websites concerning this artist. Help! Thanks.

I have emailed the sellers and they all claim to have Park West COAs stating the name and registration number of their prints as accurate. What's true? I don't know which are labeled correctly and don't want to bid on works that may have the wrong COA attached. 2 images are light in color with mostly orange/blue tones.....2 images are darker with blue/orange-red tones. Hi Tommy, I have several Anatole Krasnyansky pieces that came from Park West, but I also have one that I bought privately. This piece I bought privately is a watercolor landscape, done on a solid sheet of paper (not crumpled pieces of rice paper). I believe it is a one-of-a-kind orignial work, but when I had it appraised, and was told that it was authentic, but it had to be a seriograph, since all of Krasnyansky's original works (one of a kind) are done on Crumpled rice paper. Can you either support or rufute this statement? Could I have a rare original done on solid paper or are all Kras originals made up of crumpled rice paper? As a seriograph, it appraised at $4000... what would it be worth as an original? Thanks

I have an Anatole Krasnyansky ‘Artists Proof’ lithograph. It is titled “Rostov – Memories”, and is of Russian Architecture. It is 22 inches high and 34 inches wide. It is signed and titled in what I think is pencil. I know nothing about the print itself. I only know about Anatole Krasnyansky from what I have read about him on the internet. Could you please advise me of the following, or alternately where on the internet I can get the details: 1. The year the work was produced? 2. How many were produced in total? 3. How many A/P’s, P/P’s, numbered, and others are there in circulation? 4. If possible, an approximate price (unframed) would also be appreciated. 5. Any other details or comments about this piece or his art in general (keenly collected?) would be great as well. 6. Is the piece a lithograph or a serigraph? Thank you for your assistance. I am trying to find out more about the "Morning Melodies" artwork by R. Brownell McGrew. I have a numbered print that my husband bought for his mother in the early 1950's. It is still in it's original frame and is excellent condition. I would like to know more about the artist, the print and how much the print is worth now. Thanks

I am in search of a painting by R. Brownell McGrew. Like another post discussing this same picture, all I can find on him is about his western and Indian paintings. The picture I am looking for has two women in long dresses in a conservatory type room. One lady is sitting at a piano and the other is standing by a staircase playing a violin. The staircase is in the background, and you can look through a french door into a yard with a gazebo. There is a grandfather clock in the background, and white roses in the foreground. Can you help me find this picture? My grandmother has had one hanging over her piano for as long as I can remember. I have been looking for one for 20+ years. Thanks. Nedra

I am very new to this - I have two questions, i hope i am in the right place to ask??? first - what is the difference between a lithograph - serigraph and seriolithograph? i imagime some are more valuable than others. i also have four prints i need to sell and i dont know how to ask a fair price, or where to go? i could do ebay - but it sounds so cheap selling art on ebay? but if thats what i need to do - the four prints are serigraph - tarkey, summer landscape, seriolithograph - tarkay, indigo chapeau - seriolithograph, picot jean-claude, le jardin a saint jean and a seriolithograph picot le vase bleu de madrid. if anyone can help me figure this whole thing out - i would be greatly appreciated!!! colleensauctions@cs.com

I own a Barbara A Wood framed serigraph I'm considering parting with as it does not fit with my decor. It's entitled "Romance" and was produced in 1992. It's 32.5" X 28" (unframed), signed in pencil, and 146 of the edition of 350. It's framed to a size of 49" X 44.5" by a 4" thick gilded frame and mating. It was appraised at $1250 when I bought it new. Any estimates of value would be appreciated. I can e-mail a picture of it if that would help. Thanks.

You can call me or email me at 858.733.1784. I've been told by a friend of Tarkay that it's worth alot more now for 2 big reasons. #1 This piece is SOLD OUT and #2 He is not painting anymore. Do you know if Slava Brodinsky ever signs his work as "Brodinski"? A gallery in my town is claiming that these are original Brodinsky's but they have the signature with an "i" instead of "y" and it doesn't look exactly like the one on prints I've seen. The works in question are titled "View from the villa" (30"x40" acrylic on canvas priced at $2800) and "Tuscan view II" (18"x20" oil on canvas priced at $1200). Also wondered if those were fair prices if the works are indeed authentic. Thanks for your help.

They offered a very nice selection of contemporary art. It's my first experience with purchasing art onboard cruise ships, but it was a good experience. I have 2 small framed lithos by Boulanger that I purchased in the 1970's. One is a girl holding a bird cage with a blue bird inside, and is numbered 62/200. The other is a group of 5 children, probably boys, trying to catch a frisbee or ball, and it is numbered 88/200. Each of these pieces is approximately 9"X12" (not including mat or frame). My friend tells me they are valuable. Is this true, and, if so, how do I find the value?

I have been online all night and am so frustrated. I have looked and searched the web for info about the art works of S Burkett Kaiser just to fine a dozen repeats of the info. I am trying to find a complete listing of her art work. I have two pieces I received from My sister that are 36" X 36". Large. They are of red flowers in vases and fruit baskets with the sea in the distance. They are on little tables. They are prints on a wood board and then they have a clear highly shinny varnish. Could you please help me to find a listing of all her titles. Thank You Julie Heninger

My husband and I just had our first cruise, a 10 day Western Carribean tour on Celebrity's Galaxy, and I purchased 3 pieces at the auction on board and was lucky enough to win the raffle on the last sea day. I had no idea I could purchase art at sea, and at such incredible prices!! I will be much better prepared next time. Thanks for the opportunity to own fine art. Sincerely, Betsy L Smith

Tommy, Hi, I understand that you are affilated with the Park West Gallery and I have been trying to contact them about the purchase of a Tarkay 'Indigo Chapeau' seriolithograph from one of their former customers. As I am calling international from Ireland I can't reach them on the toll free number - would you have another number for them with an international code? Also would you know anything about this Tarkay seriolithograph - believed to be one of a 9500 series, and have any guide price? I Understand that the painting was commissioned by Park West, but other than that I can find no information on it or the seriolithograph series. Any help you can give is very much appreciated. best regards Richard Butterwick

Upon my neighbor's passing, he bequeth to me a Picasso litograph that has the title "pour ruby". My neighbor also left me a copy of some research he prepared that indicates that the lithograph was titled incorrectly. He contend that the title should have read "pour ruiz" and that it was a one of a kind original. Any ideas on how to validate his research? Also how would I go about getting an appraisal of the work? Tommy, We recently purchased 9 pieces from you while on cruise. Your rep on the cruise wasn't much help on this request. So here goes... Tarkay has a series called Five Graces. Yet Artfinders.net says it is a 'suite of 4' and labels them I, II, III, and V. Which is it? Four? or Five? Can you give a complete explanation? I currently have three of the suite. I know I'm missing Grace I. Can you get it for me? If the suite have five, can you send thumbnail pictures so I can determine what other piece I'm missing. Thank you so much. Gene Kasch

My wife and I purchased a limited edition serigraph by M. Martiros on a cruise several years ago. The serigraph is entitled Shadows Blisk and is marked 9 of 10. It is mixed media and uses gold to outline the profile of a woman in a hat. It is framed. I have been looking for more information on this work to get a sense of its present value and have not been successful. Do you know anything about this work, or where I might go to get a valuation for insurance purposes? Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Jerry Henry

I am trying to find out information concerning Circle Gallery in connection with Erte's Four Emotions Suite. I have seen this suite on a few different sites on the internet, all pictured with the same frames and matting. One of these sites listed the purchase from Circle Gallery. I am wondering if this Gallery sold a few of the suites and framed them all the same or what? The frames are a dark maroon or brown with gold accents on the top right corner and bottom left corner. The matting is a triple matt - 1st two are a light beige & the top matt is also beige with a linen-look finish. Any information you could give me about the gallery and/or the frames would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just aquired two Tarkay prints that are 7 and 1/2 inches by 5inches named Leafy Dreams and Spring Fever. I think there are 2 more this same size. Can you see if they are available? I enjoyed your sessions in Marin this past weekend. I think more people would have come if the fair was not going on next door.

Several years ago I purchased one of Barbara Wood's pieces, a portrait of a woman wearing a big, floppy hat. Her eyes are downcast, and she's holding a bouquet of flowers to her nose. There are no colors in this picture, it is sepia toned. I was told when I bought it that it was her first piece, a self portrait. It is signed and numbered. Would you know the name of this piece, and it's value? Thank you, Anne

It waas mentioned at the auction in St. Louis on March 3, 2002 that some of the "smaller" Picot's are valued from $1000 to $4000 for pieces purchased through Park West at maybe $100-200. I am very curious about this since I own 3 unusually "small" shaped pieces. How should I go about getting this information? Please advise. Sincerely, Becky Piel

hey, yeah, wondering if ya got any dogs playin poker? no? well then, howsabout some velvet elvises? ... anything with the nascar emblem?!?! hahaha, how's it going tommy? hope all is well with you, your website kicks ass and i hope you don't mind that i give it out to all my clients and recommend you for post-cruise art transactions. i've been wanting to contact you just to thank you for the positive press- it got back to me that you'd said some very kind things about me to someone or another. that's very nice of you, and i want you to know that i return the favor. i had a great time way back in houston, and look forward to teaming up again sometime. the ship gig is still going quite well, but clientele has dropped a little, especially since 9.11- as they have started selling cruises to just about anyone... very cheap. still, somehow managing to pull in the numbers fairly consistently. i will continue to plug it out, at least for a little while longer. keep up the good work, continue to upgrade the site, as it really is the best website out there... and i will continue to recommend you as the number one internet art reference. ciao, brother, peace and chocolate cookies, gordon "life without art is like music without sound" -pablo picasso

When I lived in Bloomfield Hills MI, I visited the Park West Gallery in Southfield. At that time one of the artists represented was Thomas McKnight. Since then I have moved to Las Vegas. Tommy, You were just here in Buffalo the end of October with Parkwest. I attended your auction and was very impressed. You had several new Tarkay works and I loved all of them. I need to know if either Sweet Notions (107930) or So Long To Summer Days(107960)are still available and for how much. Anyway you can e-mail me these so I can take a look at them? Also, very important! When will Parkwest be coming to Buffalo in the year 2001? I may want to purchase a piece of art but want to make sure I am in town to pick up the artwork. You mentioned you would probably not be in Buffalo the next time, you will be missed! Can I continue to work thru you for any artworks I am interested in? Please get back to me. I was at your recent auction in Buffalo, New York at the Four Points Sheraton and needed to know if Voyage de Noces by Boulanger is available to purchase and the procedure to follow to order. I also need a price on this piece. I just love this artist and was also wondering if there are any other works by Boulanger available through you. Please respond via my e-mail address. Thank you.
